Ron Matus

Ron Matus is a former reporter for the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, which recently became the Tampa Bay Times. He covered the state education beat and the Pinellas County schools beat for a combined eight years. He is currently the assistant director for policy & public affairs at Step Up for Students, a nonprofit that oversees the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship program for low-income children. He grew up in Jacksonville, Fla., and has a degree in creative writing and history from Florida State University.
